An exotic hybrid variety developed by NABI, Mohali, black wheat is a cross between Anothcyanin rich Japanese wheat and the Indian PBW621. The Purple color comes from the presence of Anthocanins / Antioxidants which are also present in fruits like Blueberries and Jamun! This variety is also higher in dietary fibres, and zinc as well as other minerals.
